Recently I got rid of my instant pod coffee maker and went back to a French press. Why?

Slowing.

I realized I missed the act of grinding the beans, pouring the water, watching it boil. Then the alchemy of steam rising out of the cafetiere as I poured the perfect cup into an old, chipped pottery mug my dad bought me years ago. An added bonus is that while I'm waiting for all this yummy goodness to come about, I have time to look at all the lovely things posted on my fridge, like this one.

It was painted by one of my dearest friends, Kimberly, who is one of the most authentic people I know (I once watched her rock a pair of 60s-vintage psychedelic pants at an amusement park while pushing a stroller. Yes, she is that cool). It reminds me to take a moment to breathe, and make sure I'm living into the right kind of life, one that will grow me into the person I'm meant to be.

For the price of a $30 French press, I get a daily dose of therapy, connection with a friend, and the satisfaction that comes from doing a task with intention. The knock-on effect to my day is intangible and priceless.

How about you...are there any tasks you could rethink in the name of yummy goodness? What about a meditation or sound bath to help clarify some intentions? I love to chat...contact me and let's start a conversation!
